Let's Set the Story Straight

There seems to be a concerted effort amongst some in the blogsphere, attempting to somehow make the events of Friday afternoon out to be my fault. This is both sad and distrubing. While I would like to think that deep down people want to do what is right, it is clear that some people are not wired this way and will stop at nothing to avoid taking responsibility for their actions.

While the criminal investigation is under way, I really cannot go into any details beyond what most of you can already read in the papers or online. However, I cannot let the comments of other bloggers go without response here today. I will state that there was a witness to the accident who came to my aid after the car left the scene of the accident. This woman stated that she saw the entire event, saw that I was hit by the car, and was interviewed by the officer who was called to the scene. While I have not yet personally seen the report, I have been told that this is in the police report. Any attempt to portray the chicken (who left the scene of the crime after he hit me with his car) as the victim here is proposterous. I am assured by the authorities that it is very clear in their estimation who was the agressor and who was the victim in this very unfortunate incident.

(It is worth noting also that according to reports yesterday, the Bryant campaign initially denied any knowledge of the "chickens" stating that they were not with the Bryant campaign. Only after the authorities became involved and the Chattanoogan reported on the story did the campaign admit that the chickens were with the Bryant campaign all along.)

I would like to thank those of you who have called and emailed over the last several days. My hope is that we can put this whole matter behind us quickly and get back to writing about the candidates, and not about the unfortunate actions of an Ed Bryant supporter.
