While he has not gone as far as performing a séance to bolster voter turnout, Harold Ford, Jr. apparently will not be outdone by aunt, father, uncle, or others in his family when it comes to distorting the truth.
Clint Brewer with the Lebanon Democrat reports that members of the Harold Ford campaign intentionally and deceitfully registered and voted in the recent Zogby's internet poll. Bryant's campaign issued a press release touting the numbers as a major coup, heralding the "news" as a harbinger of good fortune in his current bid for election to the U. S. Senate. Not so fast, guys.
Clint Brewer writes:
"Congressman Harold Ford Jr.¹s U.S. Senate campaign claims to have had a little fun with the latest Zogby/Wall Street Journal interactive poll. The new fangled Zogby polls are taken over the Internet rather than through traditional, telephone polling methods.
"The polls also allow participants to self-register. Ford pollster Peter Brodnitz with the Benenson Strategy Group said at least two members of the Ford campaign registered for the latest Tennessee Senate race poll under wildly false names, including ³Bob Corker² who they identified as a member of the Green Party. Corker, of course, is the well-heeled fund-raising frontrunner in the Senate race for the GOP.³The problem with the Zogby poll is there is no quality control, ² Brodnitz insisted. ³A couple of guys on the campaign made up people and joined the panel.²"
While it is flattering that the Ford campaign would go out of their way to alter an internet poll to make certain Corker came in third, I would think that his campaign cronies might make better use of their time. How about actually writing a blog entry this week, rather than cutting and pasting 2000 words from other blogs running down Corker? Or, what if you did more research regarding ties to Jack Abramoff before issuing press releases calling on others to donate such monies to charity, or having your guy refute such ties that are so well documented all over God's green earth?
Day 15: Ford Yet to Donate Abramoff Money to Charity...

The poll isn't a phone poll, it's done over the internet. It's inaccurate anyway, so who cares? Polls don't matter this early, it's money, and Ford's the one with the edge in that department.
I don't know what numbers you are looking at Richie but Bob Corker has consistently raised more money than any candidate in this race. Furthermore almost all of Corkers money is from in-state donors where as Ford has raised almost half of his money from ultra liberal out of state donors.
Richie: It has been a while; welcome back. The issue here is Ford's folks intentionally being dishonest in altering what was supposed to be a "scientific poll." They created false names and ID's to alter its results.
If Ford's camp really didn't care about the polls, than why go out of your way to alter them?
What about results from another poll? (one thats actually scientific)... Corker has higher unfamiliar numbers than Kurita. Better start digging into that warchest, eh demforcorker? eh? eh?
I think that greenfoot may be hard of hearing, but I am not sure.
Greeny: Name recognition will come with time. I think more important here is how poorly Brilleary polled given their recent failed bids for statewide offices.
