The Tennessee Journal reports that Bob Corker will be attending President Bush's State of the Union address on January 31st. Mr. Corker will be attending as a guest of U.S. Representative Zach Wamp, the Journal Reports.Coincidentally, it is worth noting that the same evening The Main Street Journal will be hosting a GOP primary debate in Germantown. The debate is scheduled to begin at 8:00 EST. Who at MSJ made the grievous error of scheduling this event on the same night, at about the same time, as our president's address? This type of scheduling faux pas does not speak well of the MSJ's organizational abilities, I must say. Maybe someone there will wheel in a T.V. on a cart or something so others may watch the speech?

Our next US senator needs to be there to hear the Commander in Chief. What a coup!!!
The speech will certainly be more interesting than anything Hillary or Bryant has to say, good call Corker.
That is so sweet that Corker will get to attend the State of the Union using Wamp's Spouse Ticket! I got to do that once with my Rep. when I was an intern. Maybe Corker can make some friends up in the gallery with all the wives like I did, since you have to get there about an hour early and leave some time after the remarks and after the President, Cabinet, Supreme Court and Members all clear out of the Capitol, for security reasons.
How many times have Hilleary and Bryant been to a State of the Union- and actually been on the floor with the other Members of Congress, etc. - 8-10 times each, I guess??
It is a good thing Corker is starting on his Federal tutorial now, in the election year- he sure will be ready to be a Senator now!!!
This is utterly pathetic. Corker is using the State of the Union as an excuse for not attending the debate? Laughable! The guy is running scared because his positions and record are indefensible. This cock-and-bull story about going to the State of the Union is a cop-out. You're shifting the blame to MSJ for the date of the debate? Laughable! If Corker's so interesting in seeing the speech, Corker should follow MSJ's advice and invest in TIVO or DVR!
Actually, as MSJ noted in a press release earlier today, there will be a LIVE viewing of the President's State of the Union Address following the debate. Is it still more important that Corker travel to Washington for the State of the Union than directly face those who will be deciding his fate this August?

How incredibly convenient that the MSJ has just addressed the scheduling conflict after the Journal made mention of their scheduling error.
Charles/jo/yractivist: Corker never said that he was declining to attend the debate because of his attending the SOU; this assumption is indicative of your own faulty logic; I just wanted to note the coincidence. I congratulate the MSJ for scrambling to now include the Address as part of the evening.
TN voters will have ample opportunity to see the candidates debate the issues, but it should not be at the expense of hearing "Ed in the Water" and "Van Valium" talk over the President.
